Aurora Public Art Working Group
The Town of Aurora is seeking members for a Public Art Working Group (Working Group), the purpose of which is to advise the municipality on the development of its first-ever Public Art Master Plan (PAMP).
A PAMP will provide the Town of Aurora with a framework to develop and maintain public art within a municipal context in support of branding and tourism development, neighbourhood design, and cultural expression. The Working Group will help to develop consistent standards for funding, selecting, acquiring, managing, and conserving public art for community benefit. Furthermore, the Working Group will assist in making specific recommendations that will guide the implementation of a public art program over five (5) years (2022-2026).
Who Should Apply:
Up to five (5) members will be selected for a one-year term. Our ideal members are those interested in lending their expertise and creativity in support of public art and who possess the following:
- Experience, passion and enthusiasm for the opportunities and challenges associated with the delivery of public art;
- Familiarity with the local arts and cultural community and experience with creative placemaking initiatives;
- An ability to constructively participate in an advisory capacity and exercise a range of views that reflect the diversity of our communities; and
- A capacity to commit to the Public Art Working Group for the required duration.
For the foreseeable future, the Working Group will meet virtually every six weeks with meetings anticipated to last approximately 90 minutes each.
Please consider this exciting opportunity to contribute to the vibrancy of our community through public art.
Applications will be accepted until Friday, May 7, 2021 at 4 p.m.
