Property Owners: Opening a Tenant Water/Wastewater Account Form

(To be completed by the registered property owner)  

By completing this form, the property owner acknowledges that the water account is being set up in the name of the tenant:

1. At the owner's request, the water bill will be sent directly to the tenant in the name of the tenant. The property owner will not receive a copy of the water bill from the town. 
   
   
2. Property owners are authorized and encouraged to make inquiries on the status of the tenant’s account by contacting our customer service department. Notification of an unpaid water bill will be sent directly to the tenant in the name of the tenant. The property owner will also receive a copy of the reminder notice in their name to their mailing address listed on the property tax account.
   
   
3. If the water bill remains outstanding after a notice of an unpaid water bill has been sent to the tenant, the overdue bill (s) will be added to the property owner’s tax account, in accordance with the Municipal Act. Any payments not honored by the tenant will be added to the property owner’s tax account, in accordance with the Municipal Act. (penalty at 1.25% per calendar month will accumulate on the tax account). Administration fees will be charged for these transactions.
   
   
4. It is the property owner’s responsibility to notify the Town of any tenant changes by completing the CLOSING A TENANT ACCOUNT form 15 DAYS in advance of the change. Failure to notify the Town of Aurora in advance, will result in the Town using the water meter read at the date the Town is notified to issue the final water bill. A final bill will be issued to the tenant and if not paid the outstanding balance will be added to the property owner’s tax account.
5. Please note that there is a name change service fee.

Acknowledgement

1. I (We) are the registered owner(s) of the service address.
2. I (We) understand that past due water and wastewater account balances can be transferred to the property taxes for payment collection, pursuant to the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. c. 25, s. 398 (2), as amended.
3. I (We) understand and acknowledge that a new account activation fee will be charged to the new owner(s) for each water account created.
4. I (We) undertake to promptly inform the Town of Aurora 15 business days prior to the closing date
